As basketball season begins to wind down, the Redhawks track and field team has been preparing for its open dual meet, a practice run, at Independence Thursday at 4 p.m.
“The boys have definitely improved a lot with this past off season and have really been locked in on being in the right shape and mindset to go out and compete in these events,” boys’ head coach Robert Thayer said. “This is just a practice meet so it can show some of the kids who have never ran track before or the freshman what it’s like to compete at the high school level.”
Although the runners will not be scored based on their race, the Redhawks are still planning on going all out.
“I’m glad our first meet of the season is just a practice meet because it will help remind me that I need to be in that track season mindset,” sophomore Mac Sedwick said. “I’m definitely going to give it my all and run the race the best I can.”
