The boys’ basketball team (7-5) edged closer to playoff contention by defeating Emerson (6-6) on the road 56-52 Tuesday, remaining in third place in District 11-5A play.
“This is a huge win for us,” head coach Bruce Wright said. “We kept telling the guys it was one we had to win if we wanted to make the playoffs. It was closer than we wanted it to be, but we got the job done. At the end of the day, that’s what matters.”
Sophomore point guard Ian Williams, who led the Redhawks with 13 points, is reflecting on his goals from the start of the season as district play starts to draw to a close.
“I’m definitely happy,” Williams said. “We’re in a pretty good spot to make the playoffs with a much better record than last year, and I’ve been improving my personal stats as well.”
