Battling it out on the pitch Friday against the Memorial Warriors, the Redhawks boys’ soccer team found the success they needed, winning 2-1.
“I really liked the results due to the fact that we were underdogs going into the game,” sophomore Asher Ervin said. “All of us really just played till the end and gave it our best and that’s why we won.”
With a record of 3-2-1, the guys now stand third in the District 11-5A table, just what senior Lucas Godoy wanted.
“We needed the win to move up, and that’s exactly what happened,” Godoy said. “It puts us in a better spot for the second half of districts. It was what we needed.”
The girls, on the other hand, did not share the same successes, losing 6-1 to the Warriors.
“I think overall our communication in the midfield and defensive areas and working the ball up the field is something we could work on,” senior Sydney Boroughs said.
