With the playoffs now just one game away, the boys’ basketball team (8-5) heads to the home of the Lebanon Trail TrailBlazers (0-13) Tuesday at 7:15 p.m., looking to create a three-game winning streak.
The last game between the Redhawks and the Trailblazers resulted in a 61-48 win for Liberty, something that assistant coach Robert Wilson is confident the team can do again if they address a few key issues.
“We are planning to limit our TO’s; that has been a big issue this year,” Wilson said. “We also want to limit the open looks their shooters get. Then we want to make sure we play up to our standard and not to the level of our competition or what the scoreboard says.”
Junior Gilbert Aluga, one of the Redhawks’ top scorers, has a similar mindset.
“We’re a pretty tall team, which has been a big advantage for us all year,” Aluga said. “LT on the other hand has some strong guards who are pretty agile on the perimeter and shoot well. As long as we can contest most of their shots and limit our turnovers, we should be alright.”
