To wrap up the first half of district play the Redhawks soccer teams will take on the Emerson Mavericks on Tuesday. The boys’ game will start at 7:15 at The Nest coming off a 2-1 win against Memorial.
“We are better at keeping the ball and passing it around than Emerson,” senior Hector Jenkinson said.
The Mavericks are currently right below the Redhawks in the District 11-5A table. However, Jenkinson is not concerned.
“No not at all [worried],” Jenkinson said. “We have come across bigger challenges and done well.”
The girls will play at 5:30 away hoping to better their current record of 0-5-1.
“I hope that we have a win, but also progress with our team building and getting the ball off our feet quicker,” senior Sydney Boroughs said.
In order to succeed Tuesday, head girls coach Kyle Beggs believes the team cannot get in their head.
“I think one of the biggest things that we can have, because we have a young team, is when something goes wrong it can kind of snowball on us,” Beggs said. “We kind of get a little panicky because we don’t have as much experience out there. So what I would like to see happen is can we stay mentally strong.”
