Coming off an 18-8 victory in their first game of the season, the softball team (1-0) will have their hands full in the Frisco ISD Tournament, held at Emerson High School Thursday through Saturday. The Redhawks will face off against Van Alstyne (1-0), Horn (1-0), Celina, S&S Consolidated (1-0), and Legacy Christian (0-1).
Assistant coach Evan Boullt has high expectations for the tournament.
“The weather will be a challenge, but we have our full lineup healthy and ready to go,” Boullt said. “That last win really galvanized us, so we’re ready to go out there and get more W’s.”
The lone freshman and one of only three underclassmen on the varsity team, utility player Greer Shurr is both excited and nervous.
“It’s kind of nerve-wracking being the only freshman on the team, but it’s nice seeing that my coaches have the confidence to put me in with the older girls, who I can watch and learn from,” Shurr said.
