Best Buddies is hosting their annual Friendship Ball on campus this year Friday evening in the gym.
There are various efforts being made in order to make this event more sensory friendly for all students to enjoy according to sponsor Cynthia Kays.
“We are having a sensory area for our students that sometimes may get overstimulated by the lights and sounds,” Best Buddies campus sponsor Cynthia Kays said. “The dance itself is going to be in the gym just like we do with our homecoming dance so we’re providing that with we will not be having the strobe lights and different things like that because just because of the stimulation. We have a lot of support with this with our best buddies international, best buddies North Texas as well as our local chapters.”
Best Buddies co-president Addyson Shick is eager to provide an amazing experience as well as be able to have the freedom to decorate the place.
“I’m excited because we have Liberty deciding the decorations, the decor and all that kinda stuff,” Schick said. We really want to make it a magical experience for these kids and it’s nice because it’s going to be closer to home.”
Buddy director Christina Badr is glad to have this event be closer compared to previous years.
“I’m so happy that it’s not gonna be far,” Badr said. “Thank goodness that I do not like far road trips.”
