Choir students are currently preparing for their UIL competition in April by having a pre-UIL concert on March seventh.
Choir students have been learning their pieces in and out of class.
“I believe it’s really beneficial for them because they’re getting feedback from peers after reading similar texts or the same texts, and maybe getting a perspective they missed or that was different from their own” choir director Toni Ugolini said. “So they’re able to have discussions about the book and look a little deeper, and the prompts truly do prompt them to find deeper meaning in the books. Not just for entertainment, but how some of the messages apply to broader themes in life and broader themes in the story.”
Senior Ashvita Suresh Kumar believes pre-UILl concerts are beneficial to prepare for for UIL contest.
“In class, we have designated times to read the books, and based on how much we’ve read we have checkpoints too,” Kumar said. “And I think it’s beneficial because we collaborate with our classmates and I see different points of view for the same book I am reading, so it makes it more interesting to think about while I’m reading the book.”
