With the last day of school fast approaching, students are already thinking about summer.
“I’m feeling pretty great about the last day of junior year coming up,” junior Charita Degulapet said. “It’s been a pretty packed year with tests and school work, so I’m ready for summer.”
Over the summer, Degulapet plans to prepare for next year.
“My plans for the summer are visiting family and working on college apps before school starts just to get ahead and make the first quarter next year easier,” Degulapet said.
For senior Juhi Kashyap, the fact that high school is coming to an end is bittersweet.
“High school has been fun, but it’s also been stressful, so I’m happy to be done with it,” Kashyap said. “But I also know that I say all this and I’ll be crying on the last day of school.”
In college, Kashyap will be double-majoring in architecture and architectural engineering, so over the summer, she plans to prepare for that transition while also learning some recipes from her mom that she can use to cook next year.
“Over the summer, I’ll just be preparing for going to college and upping my architecture skills and portfolio stuff,” Kashyap said. “Also, I’ll be learning all my mom’s recipes, because I know how to cook, but I want to learn how to properly cook Indian food.”
Just days away from the last day of school, senior Tamia Temple is feeling sentimental about having come this far.
“I’m feeling pretty excited about the last day of school because it’s kind of a day I’ve been waiting for, I guess, my whole life,” Temple said. “You know, 13 years of school, it’s been kind of challenging, but I’m finally getting ready to graduate and move on to the next steps of my life.”
