For most seniors, the biggest moment of graduation is when their name is called and they walk across the stage. But what if AI takes over?
With the rise of AI, students and school districts have been quick to embrace it in many ways and now Plano ISD has made the decision to utilize AI to announce the names of graduates.
The decision by the neighboring district has led to mixed reactions here on campus.
“I disagree with AI pronouncing our names at graduation because I feel like it takes away from the human aspect and a lot of seniors have been looking forward to this,” senior Daniel Essien said. “AI saying our names just wouldn’t be right.”
However, there are some benefits to using AI.
“I think it could be beneficial for the graduation because it can help speed up the process and it can help with pronouncing everyone’s name better since a lot of people’s names get mispronounced,” senior Nathan Wixon said.
Here in Frisco ISD, there is no plan to use AI during graduation ceremonies.
