The Redhawks track and field team participated in the Rock Hill Relays Thursday. The team only placed first in the girls long jump, but placed relatively high in other events.
“I think I did okay this meet,” sophomore Jamie Ross said, “I plan to build on my performance by giving 100% in practice over the next few days before our next meet.”
According to the boys head coach Robert Thayer, Tuesday’s meet provided a tough challenge for the players, but they still managed to achieve some personal bests.
“I think what we did this week was really just getting over a comfort zone,” Thayer said. “Really, we had a lot of season bests, a lot of personal bests. I think the competition was a bit heavier than what we’ve seen in previous meets. We went against pretty tough [District] 6A schools, which we aren’t going to see in Districts, so really just focusing on getting personal achievements.”
The team will get another chance to test their skills over spring break when they head to the Little Elm Lobo Invitational at Lobo Stadium and the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays at Jesuit HS next Saturday.
