Redhawks ages 16-18 have the opportunity to attend the Job fair at the CTE Center Thursday from 5.-7 p.m. Students will be interviewed by employers from various companies and the companies are looking to hire 40 part-time employees.
Students are asked to dress professionally, bring their resumes, and be open to different job opportunities.
“I’m looking to get a decent paying job so I can help fund for college,” junior Rupal Shirpurkar said. “[So the field I’m interested in] is law enforcement, but since I’m not 18, [I’m probably looking for] a job that isn’t with food, so maybe a movie theater.”
The job fair can be like a charcuterie board of careers and students can get a taste of the different jobs they’re interested in.
“The FISD Student Job Fair is an amazing opportunity to connect our community partners with our hard-working students seeking employment,” CTE center counselor Cara Yeates said. “An array of employers attend in various categories like food service and hospitality to youth tutoring and coding businesses to popular summer positions in lifeguarding. The Frisco Fire and Police Departments will also be here to talk about their Explorer programs giving students a chance to volunteer with the department over their high school career.”
The companies scheduled to be Thursday may be collecting resumes for their job candidate pool, or some students may have the chance to get a job offer on site according to Yeates.
“Students can select which businesses to visit and talk to each company representative about opportunities available,” Yeates said. “Some companies have reserved interview rooms so that they are prepared to offer employment. Many companies are prepared to hire on the spot, while others will be collecting resumes.”
