Throughout the year, English teachers have utilized various resources to prepare freshmen and sophomores for the English I and II STAAR tests, which will take place on Tuesday. Students will be able to view their STAAR EOC results on June 10. Those not taking the test will have late arrival.
“We usually do some sort of, like, Quill.org grammar revising and editing just to make sure we’re on the up and up for that,” English II teacher Grade Holcombe said. “And throughout the school year, we work on essays and short answer responses—that way, it’s not as scary when it comes up on the STAAR.”
Some students, like freshman Eason Tang, feel confident going into the test, as they’ve done it many times before.
“It’s important to treat every test like it’s really important because you don’t want to bomb it and become, like, too arrogant,” Tang said. “But I mean, for college apps, no one’s really going to look. I’ve done [STAAR tests] for a lot of years in the past, and it’s a pretty easy, low-key test.”
