AP Literature classes are doing a poetry project, where students get to learn about two poets of their choosing.
As a part of the project, students create an artistic piece based on their analysis, letting them engage with poetry in a more meaningful way.
“Ao they’re not just thinking about okay these are words on a page right and like okay there’s a metaphor or whatever,” teacher David Barr said. “They’re looking at you know how are these people trying to express their views, their emotions, their thoughts, and then how are they as you know students and thinkers.”
Some students, like Gautham Beesetti, feel like the artistic side of the project makes it more engaging
“The way we’re presenting it it’s like you either draw something you create something it has to be something tangible,” senior Gautham Beesetti said. “Because of that it’s like way more hands-on and more interactive and I think because of that like the students they’re going to like have it more ingrained in their mind rather than just writing down notes.”
