The cross country team competed in the Lovejoy Fall Festival meet on Saturday, with the girls’ placing third overall, and the boys’ finishing 17th. On the boys’ side, senior Josh Akin placed 25th overall, with both varsity teams competing in the Elite Division.

“After comparing times around the state, the girl times are proving to potentially be very competitive at the state meet,” girls’ cross country coach Amanda Byers said.

Junior Carrie Fish won her second meet of the year after setting a new course record and freshman Amelia Jauregui finished close behind in tenth.

“All of the girls on the team have an exceptional level of work ethics,” Byers said. “They understand that with hard work and dedication, success will follow.”
