The school’s drumline participated in the 2016 Plano Drumline Contest on Saturday and placed third.

Being only .5 points away from second place, this is the highest the drumline has placed at this contest. Students also received individual nominations such as Best Snares, Tenors, Basses, and front Ensemble.

Director of Percussion Robert Brannock said that while trophies aren’t the most important thing to the drumline, placing in competitions helps to continue their efforts in building a successful program.

“Our philosophy is doing things consistently well, rather than emphasizing a ‘competitive’ environment,” Brannock said. “People soon forget scores and trophies but that feeling of “leaving it all on the field” after a show will stay with you for a long time.”
