The season ended Nov. 3, but for the football team, the culmination of the season comes Monday at 6:30 p.m. with the end of the season banquet at Collin College.

“I think the banquet will be a family/team bonding opportunity that will highlight the season and give the team a last meal together before the seniors go to college,” junior football player Jordan Jones said. “And some good steak, because who doesn’t like steak.”

The banquet is one last chance for the team to be together.

“To be on a football team, you have to be willing to make sacrifices and be willing to lay everything down on the field,” Jones said. “You also need to be a leader and love the team you fight for because they’re your family.”

Aside from the football players themselves, others who are there to manage and assist the team, such as athletic trainers, will also be at the banquet.

“It gets embarrassing when they call us all up on the stage to hand us our words,” junior athletic trainer Sabrina Poole said. “But it’s fun to be there and to know that we are accepted on the football team for our achievements.”

For head coach Chris Burtch, the banquet is an opportunity to reflect on the season and express his gratitude to all involved.

“Each season is a new learning experience. As a team we learned to sacrifice for one another, commit to one another and to try to be leaders for our community,” Burtch said. “To all the players I would say thank you for your sacrifice and willingness to work so hard all season.”
