Everyday, pieces of trash are left behind during lunch periods and with four minutes between lunch periods, the custodians are pressed for time in their effort to clean the cafeteria.

“The janitors work really hard for us,” assistant principal Stacey Whaling said. “They care about the kids, they care about the school. When they are not able to get to the other things that they have to do because they are cleaning up the trash that the students should be responsible for, it takes them away from things on campus that they need to be doing.”

Assistant principal Stacey Whaling is hopeful  students will pick up after themselves in the cafeteria.

“If the students see something left behind by someone else, they should do the janitors a solid and throw it in a trash can,” Whaling said.
