The boys’ and girls’ track teams have been training for months, working towards the district 13-5A track meet Wednesday and Thursday at Memorial Stadium.

All of the Frisco schools with varsity programs: Frisco, Centennial, Lone Star, Heritage, Independence, Reedy, Wakeland and Liberty will be trying to earn a shot at qualifying for the area meet on April 20 in Carrollton.

From the sprints, to field events such as the long jump and pole vault, dozens of track and field athletes on campus will be taking part in the district meet.

For the girls’ team, head coach Amanda Byers expects several athletes to the state level.

On the boys side, the expectation is the same with the team featuring several candidate that could make it to the state meet in Austin.

The school’s 4 x 400 boys’ relay team currently has the one of the fastest times in the nation and if they perform well at district, could be a strong contender for state.
