The Board of Trustees was presented with a proposal that would help generate revenue by charging students $25 per semester for parking permits.

The school gives out between 650 and 800 parking permits per year, which doesn’t account for student drivers without parking permits.

With this many students at eight different schools paying the fee twice a year, the amount of money generated could add up quickly.

Charging for parking would be a major change as parking permits have been free in previous years.

The district believes that this move would generate $250,000 per year.

The change is policy isn’t too popular among the student body with junior Jonathan Betlejewski saying he would have preferred to seek alternatives to this solution.

“At least in my opinion and from the way I see it, it’s a replacement for the TRE bill not being passed, and they’re trying to make extra money wherever they can and provide students with what they need to get through the school year,” junior Jonathan Betlejewski said. “I think that there should be some reconsideration with the TRE bill and trying to get a similar or the same bill passed in some form.”
