Along with the Pink Out/Black Light Pep Rally on Thursday, and the Pink Out football game Thursday night, this week is also Red Ribbon Week with each day featuring a dress-up theme.

This week is Red Ribbon Week, a nationally recognized week to spread awareness about the fight against drug use.

“It has become a tradition in high schools across the nation to host dress up days as a part of Red Ribbon Week in order to bring attention to the message being spread,” counselor Staci Stokes said. “By having students participate in the themed dress up days, more attention is brought to the subject and awareness is spread. It helps to create more conversations about standing up to drugs.”

In addition to Red Ribbon week, many other activities are happening around the school including the Pink Out game supporting breast cancer awareness, and the blacklight pep-rally.

With so much going on, Stokes hopes Red Ribbon week doesn’t get lost in the commotion.

There is definitely a lot going on this week, but I hope the message is not lost,” Stokes said. “Red Ribbon Week is a nationally celebrated week, so the dates are not flexible.”
