Parents will have the chance to speak with Frisco ISD Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip Tuesday in the library from 8-9 a.m. as part of the Coffee Talks with District Leaders series.

“The meetings are informal,” assistant director of communications Megan Cone said via email. “Participants can ask questions or share concerns. District leaders may discuss timely topics or seek input on issues facing the District.”

The program started in 2014 and now superintendent Dr. Waldrip is getting a chance to host them.

“Dr. Waldrip has hosted two meetings so far this school year at Independence and Frisco high schools,” Cone said via email. “It has been an opportunity for him to continue to meet people in FISD, develop relationships and gain a deeper understanding of the issues important to our parents and community members.”

The Coffee Talks discuss a wide variety of subjects from finance and rezoning to academic opportunities and students’ social and emotional wellbeing.

“Topics of conversation have been determined by those in attendance and the questions or concerns they bring to each meeting,” Cone said via email. “Dr. Waldrip is exploring the idea of designating a main topic of discussion for each meeting, while continuing to provide an open forum for parents.”
