A joint project between the city of Frisco, Frisco ISD, and the Dallas Cowboys, The Ford Center at The Star will serve as the headquarters for the Cowboys and a home stadium for Frisco ISD football games. With construction starting last year, the facility is past its halfway point.

“It’s a live site, live things are going on here, new partnerships are being created, new developments are being created, and it’s very exciting,” Frisco Mayor Mahar Maso said. “This is a major component of the five billion dollar mile.”

The Star is a public private partnership, with one of the key partners Frisco ISD.

With this partnership, Frisco ISD is looking to make this facility an important tool for Frisco students.

“This facility is going to be a real workhorse for our high schools and our athletic programs and extracurriculars marching bands and that kind of thing,” FISD Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Lyon said.

The facility is more than 50 percent complete and is still scheduled for a 2016 summer opening with members of the football program already looking forward to playing in new home of the Dallas Cowboys.

“I’m excited to play in The Star because it’s a big stadium,” junior Jadon Eggen said. “A lot of people will be there and it’s where the Dallas Cowboys play.”
