A reality check is coming for students on Wednesday during advisory period as the next counseling session will feature college and career counselor Brittney Portnoy who will discuss the topic of a financially realistic lifestyle

“The topic is reality of what life will look like once you are on your own after high school,” Portnoy said. “This is important to get an idea of what expenses are out there and it provides good insight into the future.”

Portnoy hopes to provide students with more of an understanding of how their future choices will affect their financial stability in the future.

“I hope students will take with them a little more knowledge of what life is like financially and how to adjust based on their future career choices,” Portnoy said.

For freshman Emma Gow, the session will provide a chance to think ahead while she still has time to prepare for life after high school.

“I would look to attend this session because it would help me mature,” Gow said. “You need to take life seriously after high school.”
