Friday sports minute: Wrestling, swimming and basketball

The wrestling team hosted Frisco in a dual last night but despite pins from junior Precious Essien and senior Jon Green, the team fell to the Racoons by 5 points.

The teams next dual is against Centennial at Centennial.

The District 10-5A swimming and diving meet started last night with diving and the sole Redhawk diver, sophomore bailey wright, took home second place out of 11 divers and advances to regionals.

The Region 3-5A meet will be held at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium on Feb. 1-3.

Swimming starts tomorrow at 11 a.m.

On the court, girls’ and guys’ basketball travel to the school down the street tonight to take on Centennial.

Going into the game, the girls’ have control of second place in district, with their first matchup with Centennial this season ending in a 42-38 win.

On the boys’ side, Centennial is their last opponent on the first half of district play, with the Redhawks currently tied for first place in district with Heritage.
