Checking out art will not require leaving campus Friday as the National Art Honor Society is hosting a gallery show from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with proceeds from the sale of ceramic bowls going to the North Texas Food Bank.

“The student art gallery night is a showcase of Liberty HS visual arts,” NAHS sponsor Pernie Fallon said. “The students work on the art all year, a lot of planning goes on months before the exhibition.”

In addition to showcase student art, there are other activities for students and family that decide to attend.

“There are workshops where visitors can design and make their own buttons, create shrink art and do glow in the dark painting,” Pernie Fallon said.

For NAHS President Victoria Gong, the gallery is a way to showcase student art on campus.

“The purpose of the club is to really inspire and motivate and promote the art community both in school and in the city and in the future,” Gong said. “We really believe that taking the time to really look at art and what other people have created really instills creativity and inspiration into an otherwise mundane and lackluster society.”
