Orange cones on the eastbound side of Rolater Road are now a regular feature every school morning. School resource officer Glen Hubbard began putting them there after receiving reports of parents and students turning into the school from the middle lane of Rolater Road rather than the turn lane.

Cones are replacing potential traffic tickets in front of the school as School Resource Officer Glen Hubbard is now placing bright orange traffic cones on Rolater Road to prevent parents and students from turning into the school’s main entrance from the middle lane, rather than the turn lane.

“We got some complaints of people turning in front that center lane not the turn lane, so I decided to put those cone out there and make the correction so people follow the law out there,” Hubbard said. “It’s also illegal to make that left turn, and it creates a bottleneck at the entrance of the school and people were cutting people off.”

With the cones placed on Rolater every morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., drivers can no longer turn from the middle lane which provides a more orderly traffic flow into the school.

“The traffic cones placed in front of the school are necessary, because when you make that into a second during lane you can cut people off and it’s bad for everyone,” senior Kody Antoine said. “So the cones just prevent people from doing illegal things and I’ve seen some people get pulled over which sucks but sometimes you’re gonna be late for school and you gotta do what you gotta do.”
