Looking ahead to the fall, Color Guard tryouts are Monday through Thursday with director Scott Mills searching for students with certain attributes.

“Within the color guard tryouts what we will really be looking for is students having a positive attitude,” Mills said. “With a willingness to try new things, since a majority of those trying out really have no experience with the type of things that we do.”

Freshman Kate Duke considers the team more of a second family than another school group that students can join.

“Being a part of this team has really helped me so much,” Duke said. “Having the opportunity to be part of a team with such amazing people is truly an experience that I am thankful for.”

The sense of family fostered by Color Guard members is partly why freshman Macy Jackson is planning on trying out for the team

“The group of people all seem really great,” freshmen Macy Jackson said. “I really want to meet new people in every way I can and I think that this would be a great way to do so.”
