Among the new changes this year, the advisory period has a new look with the addition of homeroom.

Unlike last year, when students could use the advisory period as they saw fit, things are being tweaked this year.

For most students advisory will be the same as it’s always been,” Principal Ashley Rainwater said. “The difference is every student has a homeroom on their schedule. Homeroom is where you will go for things like our Redhawk Rants. When you used to sit in your second period class and have Redhawk Rants you now have a homeroom you will go to to receive that information.”

While sophomores, juniors, and seniors will have to report to homeroom once a month for Redhawk Rant, freshman will be required to go to their homeroom every Friday.

“They are going to learn study skills,” Rainwater said. “They are going to learn things about the school, they are going to learn things about themselves like coping issues things like that.”
