Whether it’s something about school, being a student, or a social issue, columnist Emma Cramption tries to make sure her message is heard in her weekly column “Say it Louder”.

Colleges, depending on where you want to go of course, are always going to be looking for different things from different people. So the best thing you can do is express your true self as much as you can because somebody will see your potential and they will accept you,

Now that senior year is here, the inevitable questions are making an appearance. “What schools are you applying to?” “Have you started your applications?” etc. While I know these questions are natural throughout the year, but school just started and it’s too early for me. There’s nothing wrong with people wanting to apply early to college, but I personally don’t feel the need to do so right now because I still need to take my last SAT.

When I tell people this, they tend to freak out for me but I’m not even freaking out myself. I am perfectly aware that I am not the smartest person in the room most of the time, but I do know that I will go somewhere and get the same degree as someone who goes to an Ivy League school. I don’t stress about things such as early admissions simply because I know I maintain a 3.7-3.8 GPA and I will be okay.

As a pretty driven person, when I set myself up for something, I will be determined to do it. When it comes to applying for college, everything will be completed by the time it needs to be.

Props to those who take multiple AP’s and take school to another level of seriousness because that’s not me. I always have to make sure my happiness is OK before my education and that is simply because school has hindered my mental health too many times.

Colleges, depending on where you want to go of course, are always going to be looking for different things from different people. So the best thing you can do is express your true self as much as you can because somebody will see your potential and they will accept you. It doesn’t matter if you have a 2.0 or a 4.0, you can go to college.

When it comes to applications, everyone has their own way of doing things so just let it happen and focus on yourself. Most importantly, don’t get caught up in what other people are doing; you have no idea where they were three months ago. Don’t rush your process.
