ROH Challenge seeks to raise funds for veterans housing

Back in May, WTV brought you the story of rebuilding our heroes, a non-profit organization that helps provide housing for veterans.

Assistant golf coach Adam Davidson is the director of operations for rebuilding our heroes and now the group is trying to turn a popular dance move into a money making awareness movement.

Davidson and now the group are trying to turn a popular dance move into a money making awareness movement.

Rebuilding our Heroes, a nonprofit organization which provides a full transitional program in helping veterans with their switch from soldier to citizen, is turning a popular dance move into just that.

The rebuilding our heroes shoot challenge asks people to video themselves, solo or with others, and follow a  script where you state your name and accept the challenge, then challenge three others which can be individual people or organizations and invite them to follow rebuilding our heroes on the following social media sites, donate, and challenge.

The challenge comes in three forms: family videos, one’s of large groups such as athletic teams, drill team and cheerleaders, teaching departments, organizations, and mixes of students, and lastly individuals performing the challenge on their own. The goal is for the challenge to go viral and create a movement to help veterans.

“Ultimately our goal is if we can create an 400 videos the analytics show that we can go viral. and viral means that we get 5 millions views,” Davidson said. “If we do that its gonna catch, and it’s not about a money grab it’s more about the awareness and a following because if we create that we can create business partnerships that allow us to sustain growth and to continue to work towards the purpose which is to hire and house veterans.”

Here on campus, the boys golf team is the first group to take the challenge.

“I think the challenge has been pretty fun,” senior Vijay Jain said. “You know getting all the boys together to do it, it was interesting to try and coordinate all of that but I think we really had a good time in the end. I encourage everyone to do this, if we can create some type of movement it would be really cool to know that it started right here at Liberty.”
