Starting the season by playing several top teams in the area, the tennis team is working towards the playoffs with the team taking on Heritage on Friday.

With the top four teams in District 9-5A making the playoffs, coaches are working on improving depth.

“We’re really focusing on doubles,” assistant tennis coach Brandon Justiss said. “Just because it’s a key, it’s a big impact on the match.”

After their loss Tuesday against Independence, the team has a 3 and 2 district record

With just four matches left, senior Nick Heldman says the team is practicing harder than before.

“We’re playing a lot more matches in practice than we did last year, I guess,” Heldman said. “We’re trying to focus on being higher in district this year, than we were last year, because we barely lost to Independence, so we’re trying to make it so that we don’t have that close of a margin this time so we can actually get that number one district spot.”
