The classic Pride and Prejudice is being performed by theatre Wednesday and Thursday at 7  p.m. in the auditorium as part of its preparations for its UIL competition Feb. 28th.

“We’ve been having rehearsals since the start of the school year in regards to reading the script and seeing how we’re going to cast it,” senior Eduardo Borja-Prieto said. “Over winter break we decided what the cast was going to be finally. Then we also were able to get some of the cutting of the script, because the script has to be 40 minutes and originally it was three hours.”

The actors and actresses on stage get most of the attention but the backstage crew will be handling the technical aspect of the show.

“I’m running the soundboard so I controlling all of the sound cues and also we have a we have characters that are playing the piano in our show,” senior Jordan Miller said. “And so we hooked up at digital keyboard to the sound system and I’m playing the keyboard in the booth, but it sounds like it’s coming from the keyboard that’s on stage doing that.”

The two shows on campus will help the cast prepare for the UIL in which they hope to advance.

“The initial hope is always to make state but Liberty has never advanced more than once,” Borja-Prieto said. “We’re hoping to advance past district and hopefully beyond.”

Tickets for the show are $5.
