The boys and girls basketball teams were both on the road Tuesday night with the girls playing a district game against Lone Star, and the boys challenging 6A powerhouse Cedar Hill.

The girls continued their winning ways in district, bringing their record in district to 2-0, after defeating Lone Star 46-23.

Freshman Randi Thompson and junior Jordan Hamilton led the scoring for the team, with each contributing 12 points. Junior Rebecca Lescay had 11 to help the team to the win.

The boys marched on with their preparation for district play with a contest at #9 6A powerhouse Cedar Hill. The boys fell short, losing 75-69 in a tightly contested game. Senior Bradley Saad had 16 points, followed by sophomore Reggie Chaney, who had 15.

“The kids played really well,” boys head coach Marcus Eckert said. “Our coaching staff is extremely proud of the way that we competed and played together. Foul trouble early hurt us. Reggie [Chaney] fouled out in the 4th quarter while we were marking a run, Carter Brown and Trey Curry had to sit in the 1st half because of foul trouble. I wish the officials would’ve let us play a little bit more. But other than that, we just have to work on a few things, limit turnovers, win the extra possessions, and when we do that, I don’t think there’s a team in the state that can beat us.”
