Health Occupations Students of America launched its new series, Meet Your Future, Friday after school with ER physician and Army doctor, Dr. Marco Coppola, its first speaker.

Connecting both the military and healthcare, HOSA co-president Anushka Sinha believes Coppola provided students with examples of the different career paths in medicine.

“It was interesting that he was not only an ER doctor, but a brigadier general for the Texas Medical Brigade,” Sinha said. “We were excited to show our students that they can pursue their passion for healthcare while also serving their country, just as Dr. Coppola had done.”

Coppola talked to an estimated 100 students about scholarships and provided insight into what it takes to become an ER physician and an Army doctor .

“Coppola gave great advice and went through education that is required when one chooses the field of medicine,” HOSA public relations officer Sarah Ahmed said. “He also gave great info on scholarships the US Army and Navy gives out. This way, a lot of people can learn about different fields of medicine so they are more aware of what to take.”
