Two weeks without school is something few students would complain about, but with all this free time, boredom can creep in. But don’t succumb to that, instead, here are some things you could do over break.

The first option is to volunteer. Volunteering at an animal or homeless shelter is a great way to share the holiday spirit and help others enjoy their holiday season. Helping the animals and people provides you with a good feeling of giving back to your community and being thankful for what you have.

Giving back can be making things to donate, donating new items they could use, and also even just being there to help out or to be a friend. This small act of kindness makes the homeless happy because you are spreading joy and helping them this holiday season. In return, you also get a feeling of joy because whether you believe it or not joy and especially the holiday spirit is contagious.

The second option is to go celebrate by hanging out with your friends. The holidays are times to be thankful and be around the ones you love. Yes your family is mainly who you would visit on the holidays, but you also cherish your friends too. You and your friends can have fun too by going out, staying in and having fun with the holiday spirit, or even celebrating indoors with a group of friends.

The third option is to throw a holiday party. Yes, this takes time to prepare so if you know you are going to be alone for the holidays ahead of time plan a party. Chances are it’s going to be small and if you want a small little party to just hang out inside with that’s great. If you want a large party or you want all your friends to come, you can even invite your friends to bring their family too. All you need are some holiday decorations, fun snacks, games, and never forget that holiday music.

The fourth option is to have a movie marathon. I know you are alone but embrace it and watch that Netflix movie marathon. All you need is some good hot chocolate or eggnog and some yummy snacks. Although, I do recommend my personal favorite which is cookies and milk.

These are some ideas for when you are bored on the holidays and want to enjoy yourself and embrace that holiday spirit with or without others. Stay warm and enjoy your holidays.
