With the end of the regular season and the beginning of the playoffs suspended through at least March 29, both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are transitioning to individual workouts. Although the UIL has only suspended athletic contests through March 29, Frisco ISD has suspended in-person classes through April 3.

Soccer brings in the new semester on Tuesday with home games against the Celina Bobcats as the girls’ team kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and the boys’ team to follow at 7:15 p.m.

Junior Thais Fernandez sees the game as a way to bring the girls’ team together one last time before District 9-5A play begins on Friday.

“I am kind of nervous but excited to play with my team,” junior Thais Fernandez said. “Over break we had practices and a tournament which helped us prepare for today and for districts. The tournament helped us prepare for the game tonight because it brought us all together and build chemistry. It helped by preparing me to work with new people on the field who I haven’t worked with since last year.”

Also using the game as preparation for the District 9-5A season, senior John Keene believes the team’s preseason performance makes way for a hopeful district run.

“I’m excited, we’ve played better than we expected to early on in the season so there’s a lot to look forward to,” senior John Keene said. “Today we play a good team and hope that a higher level of competition will prepare us for the huge challenge of doing well in district games.”
