Students walk into lunch hungry, cranky, and on a search for food. Then all of a sudden, a group of students walk into the cafeteria and start socializing. In the cafeteria lunch line. Not only do they start talking and drawing all attention to them, they also decide to cut the line. The entire “squad” just cuts the line. So now everyone gets extra cranky. Now everyone has a problem. That’s just the beginning of the all the problems at lunch. Some students need to educate themselves about proper lunch etiquette.

First off all, students don’t need to be socializing in the lunch lines. Everyone has 30 minutes to get to lunch and sit down with their friends. The socializing can be done after one has grabbed lunch. And even if students see their “squad” at lunch, they don’t need to just allow them to cut in front of everyone else. There’s actually people that wait for several minutes because people do this. So please, the next time you want to cut and socialize in the lunch lines, think about the students behind you.

In addition to that, when people need to microwave their food, they do not need to leave the food in there alone. It could explode for all I know. Just stand there while it’s heating up and do not leave the food in their for like five minutes. There are other people trying to heat up their food so students need to take that into consideration. Also, when some students are heating up their food they bring like 5 friends up to the microwave with them. There is no need to do that. It’s going to be OK. Microwave the food and then students need to go sit down. That’s all there is to it.

There are also those people who just love to cause a scene. This is lunch, not theater. Students don’t need to cause drama in the lunch lines or in lunch in general. It’s really petty seeing people yelling or cursing at lunch. If a student has a problem with another student, then solve it in a mature and civil way. It’s not like students need to wrestle each other right there at lunch. There are other people who are trying to just eat and talk to their friends. Lunch should be a safe environment for everyone. We are high schoolers so let’s act that way.

Last but not least, students just need to be more aware of their surroundings at lunch. Lunch is a time for people to take a break, talk to their friends and enjoy their food.
