With one week left in the first round of District 9-5A play, the soccer teams faced off, and fell, to the Independence Knights Friday night with the girls falling 5-1 and boys losing 1-0.

Struggling to score in the last few games, the boys’ team is going to be spending some extra time at practice trying to get the ball in the back of the net.

“We will be doing a lot of shooting drills,” boys’ head coach Fred Kaiser said. “You can’t win games if you can’t score.”

Taking on the first place Knights, the girl’s team remained in fourth place despite losing by four goals.

“We didn’t handle the loss great,” junior Emerie Jones said. ”We are ready to make a come back. We got out to practice early today and worked hard on shooting and perfecting crosses.”
