The Oscars

Amelia Jáuregui, Staff Reporter

In just a few days, actors, actresses, and everyone behind the scenes will be walking the carpet for The 92nd Oscars hosted at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.

The Oscars are something that I look forward to every year, and I make sure to schedule them into my day. From seeing the glitz and the glam on the carpet, to hearing the interviews before the show, to viewing the fun of the event, to seeing which people and what movies win the awards for the evening.

For myself personally, I love seeing who wins best cinematographer, best director, and best picture. Because of my aspirations to work in the film industry, and my specific interest in cinematography and directing, I love being able to study and view who wins, and why they won the award for the evening. There is obviously a reason each of the movies were nominated, and the movies that win can best showcase good aspects of film, so I love being able to learn from the highest quality of work.

There are a total of 24 categories that will be showcased on Sunday, and it goes between all parts of the creative, movie world.

Between the categories, there are a few movies that have continued to repeat in multiple categories. Some of these movies include Pain and Glory, Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, Joker, Jojo Rabbit, Marriage Story, The Two Popes, and The Irishman. Of course, these aren’t the only nominations, but they are the ones you will be hearing over and over again.

I am looking forward to seeing what this Sunday will bring, and to enjoy one of the biggest moments in the film lovers calendar.
