Juniors take SAT for free on campus

For the first time, rather than having to pay for the SAT and give up a Saturday, juniors on campus are going to be able to take it for free Wednesday in one of the school’s two gyms, or in one of several classrooms on campus.

For junior and athlete Will Ashmore, being able to take the sat on a school day is something that fits his schedule better.

I’m really happy about it because the SAT is normally on a Saturday which is when we normally have track meets, practices, or recovery,” Ashmore said. “Not only do we get to miss a little bit of school but also I don’t have to worry about missing the SAT because of a track meet.”

Taking the test in a comfortable environment may be able to help students perform.

“I think taking it in a familiar environment with people I’m familiar with will help out with my results and just the whole test taking experience,” Ashmore said.

While younger grade levels may get this same opportunity in years to come, seniors such as Kyle McCord were forced to take the SAT on their own time.

“I wish I could because then I wouldn’t have had to waste my Saturday taking a test and I could have been able to do what I want to do,” McCord said.

Juniors can find their testing location on the signs posted in the rotunda.
