Directed by senior Lauren Head, during a WTV report on Holocaust Remembrance, the campus’ Anne Frank production will not debut this week due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

After several months preparing for the student led show, The Diary of Anne Frank, the cast decided to postpone opening night, originally scheduled for Thursday due to Frisco ISD’s decision to suspend all in-person activities in the effort to combat COVID-19.

“We thought we would take social responsibility in light of the coronavirus outbreak,” director Lauren Head said. “Obviously we wish that we could’ve been able to put the show on this week as it’s been an eight-month work in progress, but we thought it was more important to keep our company and audience members healthy and safe.”

The decision to postpone the show will potentially help audience members.

“We figured it would be best for everyone’s health, especially grandparents who would love to see the show but want to take extra safety precautions,” cast member Chloe Zonis said. “As of right now we don’t know when it will be rescheduled to, but we will continue to work on and improve the show in any way possible.”

Although postponing the show means more time to prepare, cast members decided to stop  rehearsals.

“We hope to add more to the show, but we’ve stopped rehearsals as of now to lower the risk of any of us getting sick,” Head said. “Hopefully we’ll be able to better the show with the time that we have, but that’s just dependent on how long we are encouraged to self-quarantine. The extra time we have will be spent by me primarily to work on bettering our costumes and props, but without rehearsals there’s not much we can work on as a company yet.”
