With the campus closing for at least one week due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Redhawks begin eLearning on March 17.

Frisco ISD’s eLearning program began on Tuesday with students learning from home rather than attending classes on campus. The suspension of traditional school was suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak

“As a precaution, all in-person classes will be suspended and replaced with virtual instruction and other alternative learning options,” Frisco ISD Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip wrote in an email sent out to students, staff, and parents. “School will remain close Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20 as we assess the situation in our community as travelers return from spring break. The district will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation prior to reopening school on Monday, March 23.”

With the Centers for Disease Control recommending that organizers stop events with 50 or more people for eight weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak, eLearning could extend beyond Friday.

Campus administration sent out an email to all students and parents Monday morning outlining the process for learning this week. Students can view this page to access work from all of their teachers.

Students will receive assignments at the beginning of the week (Tuesday 3/17) and will have until Friday at 11:59 PM to complete them,” the email read. “This week’s material will be a review of previous standards and skills. No grades will be recorded; HOWEVER, students will still have the opportunity to make up work and retest this week since the end of the grading period is this Friday 3/20.”

Completing work will count as a student’s attendance for the week.

Failure to complete the assignments will result in the student falling behind and possible truancy measures,” the email read. “Lessons will be about 25-30 minutes in length for each of the 8 classes. This equates to about 4 hours of actual classwork per day for all 8 classes.”

As eLearning develops, students should be checking their Frisco ISD emails for updates from their teachers.

Included in the administration’s email was an eLearning FAQ page.
