The night began with the girls’ basketball team facing off against Wakeland, the only district team to beat them in the last 4 years. Earlier this season Wakeland ended the girls’ nearly 47 game winning streak. Tuesday night at Wakeland, the team avenged its loss from earlier in the season, beating Wakeland 40-25. Rebecca Lescay led the offense with fourteen points followed by freshman Randi Thompson and junior Jordan Hamilton each with eight.

Following the girls, the boys, ranked 10th in the state, also beat Wakeland 47-37. Sophomore Reggie Chaney scored thirteen points with senior Brandon Hicks following closely behind with 10. With the win, the team remains in first place in District 9-5A.

Both the boys and girls have a bye on Friday, but will take on Little Elm in the Nest on Tuesday at 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. The games will be a battle at the top of district as Little Elm trails both the boys and girls in District 9-5A.

Tuesday night also featured both soccer teams in action. the girls soccer team lost to Heritage 1-0 at home, but the boys soccer team overcame an early deficit to beat Heritage 3-2 with goals by Josh Fuller, Matthew Lay, and Matthew Cherigo.

The girls soccer team will take on Little Elm at Little Elm on Friday at 7:15 while the boys take on Little Elm at home at 7:15.
