K-pop reigns supreme for sophomore

Teenagers often spend their time listening to music. For some, it’s an escape from reality, even if it’s just for a little while. But while most teens listen to more “traditional” types of music, sophomore Amy Tang only listens to Korean pop.

Wingspan: Why do you listen to K-pop?

Tang: “It’s addicting and I personally think it’s better than other music.”

Wingspan: Why don’t you listen to American music?

Tang: “A lot of American music talk about inappropriate things and cuss a lot more.”

Wingspan: What’s the difference between K-pop and American music?

Tang: ”K-pop incorporates more dance and has a lot of different rhythms.”

Wingspan: What got you into K-pop?

Tang: ”A friend introduced me to it.”

Wingspan: When do you listen to K-pop?

Tang: “Whenever I have free time.”

Wingspan: Have you been to any K-pop concert?

Tang: “No, but I want to go to one.”

Wingspan: Has K-pop inspired you in anyway? If so, how?

Tang: “Yes, because it made me interested in dance”

Wingspan: What do you like about K-pop?

Tang: “The artists are all pretty and handsome. It calms me down and it makes me less stressful.”

Wingspan: Do you want to beco me a K-pop star when you go up?

Tang: “I’d like to be one, but I’m not confident enough to audition.”

Wingspan: Which artists do you recommend? Why?

Tang: “Seventeen, Got7, BTS because Seventeen is talented despite the length of time they’ve debuted and they compose and choreograph all their music and Got7 and BTS have good music that all people will like.”
