To help Dual Credit students get ready for the start of Collin College classes on Aug. 24, college and career counselor Shawna Chamberlin will host an orientation Zoom webinar on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and Friday at 12:00 p.m. for new and returning dual credit students.

With a mixture of online and in person classes, Chamberlin wanted to ensure students feel confident navigating the Collin system.

“I felt it was important to host an orientation to show students how to log into their Cougar Web, access their Collin emails and their college courses,” Chamberlin said. “Since classes have been moved from Liberty High School to an Online or Blended format, I wanted to make sure students are prepared for what to expect on the first day of school.”

New dual credit students like senior Grace Duong, appreciate the extra guidance before the start of the Collin semester.

“I’m really glad they’re having this meeting because it is my first year in Dual Credit,” Duong said. “A lot of things on the website are pretty confusing, so it is nice to have guidance right before our classes actually begin in case we’re asked to do something during class.”

Chamberlin hopes students feel more prepared, and plants to answer any questions regarding the Collin dual credit program.

“I asked for questions from students at the time of registration, so I could address them during the webinar,” Chamberlin said. “I hope this orientation calms any anxiety or nerves about starting their dual credit courses.”
