The 2020 cross country season may have been delayed, but both the boys’ and the girls’ teams came out fast at Saturday’s meet in Princeton.

I think this meet gives us a great base for the rest of the season,” head girls coach Khera Vay said. “We evaluated each mile time and can see that our endurance needs to be improved so we will work on pushing through the pace on our long runs.”

Sophomore Grace Deshetler (20:31.99) led the way for the girls with a 2nd place finish with junior Jada Williams (21:44.30) placing 9th, leading the girls to place 4th overall.

“My goals this year are to run low 19s and to really push myself and of course have some fun this year,” Williams said.

On the boys’ side, senior Sumukh Satish (16:59.35) placed 4th, sophomore Andrew Jáuregui (17:30.67) placed 8th, and junior Devansh Saxena (17:47.73) placed 10th, helping the boys place 2nd overall.

“First of all, I’m really proud of my team. We went up against some tough competition, including Plano East, a 6A school, and came out in second,” Jáuregui said via text. “I’m also very proud of my individual performance, since I finished 8th overall, and I’ve never been top ten in a varsity race before.”
