In my weekly search for new music, I decided to look through recent soundtracks. I came across Birds of Prey:The Album and I thought it would be fun to review it!

This album is the soundtrack for the Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey movie that came out in February of this year. After the first listen, I really enjoyed the soundtrack. The music coincided with the movie and it fit the vibe of the movie really well.

The reason I like the album is because of its production and the feeling of empowerment that it gives me. It is just so good! There were some songs on here that I didn’t really like all that much because their production didn’t sit right with me. I love the variety of artists that this album has. There are so many different singers from different genres.

My top songs from this album would be “Sway With Me” by Saweetie and GALXARA, Diamonds” by Megan Thee Stallion and Normani, and “Joke’s On You” by Charlotte Lawrence

I love “Sway With Me” for reasons I can’t explain fully. It makes me feel very empowered but it also makes me feel a little sad for some reason. “Diamonds” is an insane song. I haven’t seen the movie but based off of this song and the word diamonds being used so often throughout the album, I assume the movie has to do with diamonds. I love how Megan and Normani’s voices complement each other on this song and the imagery of women empowerment that it gives me.

Finally, “Joke’s on You” is a very carefree song that has a lesson built into it. That lesson being that you shouldn’t have to lie for other people or deal with their problems, because at the end of the day, you are the one who gets hurt.

I think that this album was executed very well because making a soundtrack for a movie isn’t easy. Everything has to fit well with the movie and the vibes of the movie. I do concede that I have not seen the movie but based on prior knowledge of the plot, I think that the album fits well with the events of the movie. Even though there are some songs on here that I am not super fond of, they still do their job of telling the story. Hats off to the producers as well because this had some great beats throughout it.
