Transitioning into 2021, Frisco ISD continues to increase the number of course offerings available for students with the addition of new classes and pathway programs for the 2021-2022 school year.

Starting next fall, those interested will be able to explore a multitude of options, with electives ranging from African American studies to a Multicultural Section of AP Seminar.

“‘The District continually seeks to ensure students are college and career ready as the needs of employers and society change over time,”’ Dr. Angela Romney, managing director of academic programs said in a recent FISD news release. ‘“We take student interests into consideration at every stage of the process when we look at what we offer as a District.”’

Updated course catalogs are also available, including informational overviews over each class selection.

With high school students being on the highest demographic for video gaming, eSports sponsor Chris Ham is excited to see how forming curriculum around the subject will impact the future of the gaming industry.

“eSports deserves to be a class,” Ham said. “eSports is a fast growing industry and students should have the opportunity to learn about it. Whatever they decide to do, I will obviously follow that. It would be nice to still have the club, while offering the eSports class. So that we get the best of both worlds.”

While the question of whether or not the club remains up in the air, Ham hopes students who don’t have the schedule space to enroll in the class are still able to participate in some sort of way.

“Whatever they decide to do, I will obviously follow that,” he said. “ It would be nice to still have the club, while offering the eSports class. So that we get the best of both worlds.”
