The Redhawks are heading over to Reedy High School on Thursday to try to out lift Reedy, Centennial, Lebanon Trail, and Independence at 4:30 p.m.

“This meet we are really trying to get our best maxes and show improvement from last year,” sophomore Anna Lyon said.

With the team goal to make regionals in March, the team is hoping this meet will give them a fighting chance.

“The goal of each meet is to get kids qualified for regionals,” head coach Mark Thomas said. “So the kids will have 4 opportunities to qualify for regionals and we will have 4 opportunities to win awards here in Frisco.”

Starting the season off on a high note the girls’ team had an accomplishment even before they first fit the cages.

“We are also the first school in Frisco to have a full girls powerlifting team, so that’s really exciting,” Lyon said.

On the boys’ side the team is also hoping to improve and already looking forward to districts.

”As a team we are hoping to win the district,” senior Ben Anderson said. “While as individuals we are all trying to maximize our potential in our lifts in the hopes of advancing to the regional and state meets.”
